HawleyKatie“I joined the Big Green Umbrella Team in 2014 with the intentions of helping businesses, and that’s exactly what I get to do every day through Cityview! I love being able to help businesses grow through their advertising and the ability to work with new customers every day. I also enjoy being a part of a team atmosphere. We all help each other out to reach our goal, and to me, that is awesome.”

“I have been selling print media for 25 years. It is really fun and exciting to work for a company that is growing and meeting the needs of businesses’ advertising and marketing goals. The Iowa Living magazines have made a definite impact in the community, and I am proud to be a part of that.”

“Working for Big Green Umbrella Media has allowed me to achieve my financial goals while getting to know various businesses and key people in the community. I like being able to use my creativity in developing ad campaigns and working on special projects. BGUM has a great vision for the future, and I enjoy working for a small locally owned company who cares about the success of their employees.”

“What’s the best part about working at BGUM? I’ve shot handmade fireworks that were crafted with homemade gunpowder. I’ve listened to a Southeast Polk bus driver recount decades of cute kid stories. I’ve ascertained who the heck Fred Clarke is. I’ve documented the city’s grandeur from atop downtown’s newest posh hotel — which is much different than describing the view from below while looking up at the ceiling off an unmopped floor at an east side dive bar — which I’ve also done.

The best thing about working at BGUM isn’t the countless opportunities to say “BGUM,” which is admittedly fun to say, but instead, it’s seeing central Iowans as they really are, listening to regular people’s passion and telling the story of the greater Des Moines area. Whether you are up, down, over or out, BGUM is about everyone, and we offer publications for all walks of life. BGUM is about your city, reflecting your style and offering you news, both good and bad… BGUM is Des Moines, and each day is an adventure around here, but at least it’s dry under the Big Green Umbrella.”
